Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer that is well known for her highly laudable performance in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter received numerous awards which included the Oscar for her role in the film Piano. The well-known actress began her acting career on stage in various Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. Acting has always been her interest. In the fifth grade she acted as Helen Keller. Her mumps left her deaf and blind in one ear. However, she didn't let this hinder her progress as an actor. In her early years, she studied acting in the college before moving into New York City from Pittsburgh in order to pursue her ambitions. After a casual encounter, she became stuck in an elevator along with the playwright Beth Henley and the two worked together on the Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which became Hunter's debut. She moved to Los Angeles and tried to secure film roles. For Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. Over the past three decades Holly Hunter has been on numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
